Debunking top 5 misconceptions on using stainless steel

In 1913, a metallurgist named Harry Bearley accidentally added Chromium to Iron and was surprised to notice that the resulting compound didn’t rust. That event marks the history of stainless steel.

The discovery of stainless steel is itself shrouded. Prior to 1913, many scientists obliviously produced this alloy, not until Harry Bearley added the right proportion of chromium and other metals which led to the then called ‘rustless steel’. #1 Stainless steel can’t be used for cooking.

#2 Stainless steel is hard to clean:

   Stainless steel is non-porous, which means it resists lingering germs and bacteria better than wood and plastic. In fact, the name itself suggests ‘Stain-less’, just wash and wipe it with a soap and it is absolutely new to use. Avoid bleach and chlorine-based cleaners since they will dull the finish and damage the surface. #3 Stainless steel is expensive:

   The raw materials iron ore, chromium, nickel and silicon are intensely heated for 8-10 hours and are later welded into desired products. Which implies stainless steel has high fracture toughness, which could prevent small structural imperfections from developing into cracks. A stainless steel surface can remain completely sound at 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit, about five times higher than carbon fiber or aluminum.
